Eczema (Vicharchika)
A 60-year-old male patient consulted the CHAITANYA AYUR CLINIC, BALLARI with the complaint of recurrent skin rashes on the upper and lower limbs and head.
The symptoms were characterized by redness, eczema, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, bleeding, inflamed patches of skin, itching, and redness. The patient had been suffering from these symptoms for the last 5 months.
Clinical Findings
The patient was subsequently consulted in the outpatient department of Chaitanya Ayur Clinic for Ayurvedic treatment.
During the physical examination, the patient was found to be anxious with loss of appetite and constipated. When asked about bladder and bowel infiltration, the bowel movements were normal. All laboratory and biochemical investigations were normal.
Diagnostic Focus and Assessment
Based on the patient’s symptoms, it was concluded that the patient was suffering from eczema.
Treatment Plan
- Panchatiktha Gritha: 1 teaspoon once daily before food
- Gandhaka Rasayana: 1 tablet three times a day
- 7D Pro Tablet: 1 tablet three times a day
- Skin oil for external application
- Avoid: Sour food, milk, curd, meat, fish
- Advise: Yoga, meditation
Intervention
The patient was given the above drugs and was advised to strictly follow the prescribed diet. After taking the medication, the patient experienced relief from itching and rashes, which gradually decreased. The patient was recommended to continue the same treatment for the next 8 months with regular follow-up.
Conclusion
The case report demonstrates the treatment of eczema completely with only Ayurvedic medicine intervention. Pathya sevan plays a major role in the treatment of eczema. Pratyahara should be avoided.
